Games for pre-schoolers

Three games we recommend for the pre-school set and older.
Tama played Zingo at Kindy when his very cool relief teacher Miss Toohey brought it in. We actually all enjoy playing this. Though Will and Tama have no chance when Les, Kieran and Merenia are playing.

Pop Goes the Froggio is one we first saw at Speech. Tama had to say the required word or sound each time he stood on a lilypad and when he got to the end he could jump on the Lilypad setting loose the frog.... good times! The intended method of play is actually a matching game that works best in a big room with players of equal skill. Be the first to finish the pairs and then stamp on the lilypad- boom!

Finally Pop-up Pirate, also used at speech- say the word/sound and add a sword. Or played properly each player takes it in turns to put a sword in the side of the barrel. Our little kids think the one who makes the pirate pop wins... it's more fun like that. This is a game of chance and doesn't require speed- so great for 'non-equal' players.

Zingo comes in multiple iterations there's the basic picture matching one we have, sight words, numbers, time, word builder and zingo to go. These are all still readily available to buy. The other two are no longer being produced. But you can find them still in online stores sometimes, or you can grab them on ebay, gumtree, or Trade-me.
