A spot of Gardening...

Not sure where this is going we're a bit late in the year to plant much in WA- the sun wipes it out before it has a chance to get anywhere on those high 30's days.

Play Room

This is our playroom....

It houses all out toys, blocks, games, most of the kids books (the big kids also have a book shelf each in their rooms), musical instruments, art table and a lot but not all of our art gear. It's a huge space and we're lucky to have it. Not all of our toys/games are out at one time. We have two pantry style cupboards (on the right in the bottom picture) one for toys and one for games- these are locked because if they weren't everything would be out... trashed on the floor... and the kids nowhere to be seen. I rotate the toys when we're getting bored with what's there- or to suit what we're focusing on at the time- eg Dinosaurs with the Woolies Dino cards or The cash register when we're doing money for Maths.

Just working...

Subitising Maths Game

This super simple game requires a 4x6 grid (per player) see below, a dice and something to make a mark. It easier if you have a dice for every player and we use pre-inked stamps to make a mark- just for fun. The top row of the grid is filled with each side of a dice. Players take turns to roll the dice and then stamp a space in the grid under that number. The first to fill all 18 spaces is the winner. I originally made the game for Will in Kindy but he still enjoys it now. And it helps Tama with Subitising. Which is the process of immediately recognising how many items are in a small group

You can fit two of these on an A4.

Workbooks

We don't have a whole heap of workbooks but we do have a few for practice simply because there's no point in doing the work if someone has already gone to all the effort. We use workbooks for Spelling, Maths, Handwriting and language (eg conventions, punctuation etc).
