Sketching and thinking

We picked up a $2 calendar with images of Western Australia at the newsagents. Tama picked his favourite image and he talked about what he saw and why he'd picked it. Then he collected some leaves to sketch to compliment the report he'd given me.

This week on the home school web...

My printer is running hot and soon my new laminator will be too. Here are some sites I've visited this week that I'm planning on heading back to soon...

Maths Matching ideas at Pre-Kinders.

Teaching Counting at Pre-Kinders.

Dinosaur Pasta Skeletons at Pre-Kinders- Tama is going to love this!!

We're not stuck for Dinosaur Books around here- but if you are looking for some here's a pretty good list.

These dinosaur word cards are printed and ready to go.

I just brought scales for the boys but I think I may need another set to try this activity and some like it.

I also discovered Wild Flower Ramblings this week lots of great ideas!

And just in case I never shared- Kate at An Everyday story

Art at the Gallery

Tama and I checked out the exhibition at our local gallery in February. Some rather abstract and some not so abstract paintings. We discussed what we saw, what we liked and why. Then we both lay down on the gallery floor and did some drawing inspired by the paintings.

Pattern work

Singing while he works Tama is making his own patterns and identifying some of mine with basic shapes.

He's also using the shapes to represent things in this case a T-Rex is coming to the house which has a path and a garden. There are clouds in the sunny sky.

Celebrating the start

Way back in February to celebrate the start of our homeschooling journey Tama and I went out to the Coffee Club. He ordered a muffin and juice. I love the intense concentration going on here.
